It was early 2012 when the pain and fatigue from my autoimmune disease started. I was newly married to my high school sweetheart, living in New York, finishing my Masters in Computer Science, working as a financial software project manager and competitively ballroom dancing on the side. By late 2013, the autoimmune disease and ensuing stress reached a critical point where I needed to stop working full-time, so we moved with our 2 kittens back to Chicagoland where we had both grown up, in search of family support and cheaper costs of living. We bought a mid-century house and spent half a year renovating it. Until recently, I spent my clear-headed days working for my father, coding trade programs for his foreign exchange firm, to fund my trips to Disney theme parks around the world. Meanwhile, I have been trying tons of diets, drugs, lifestyle changes, and physical therapies to help my symptoms. I’m currently finishing the elimination portion of the Autoimmune Protocol.
